The Delhi Legislative Assembly received another bomb threat via email on Wednesday, triggering heightened security measures, officials said.
The latest message, sent early in the morning to the Speaker’s official email account, claimed that explosive devices had been planted within the Assembly premises during the ongoing session. Sources added that the email also contained provocative remarks.
This comes just a day after similar threats were issued on Tuesday, hours before Chief Minister Rekha Gupta was scheduled to present the budget. Two separate emails were sent that day—one to the Assembly’s official ID and another to Speaker Vijender Gupta—prompting a major security response.
Following the fresh alert, security was further tightened in and around the Assembly complex. Bomb disposal teams, dog squads, and local police units carried out extensive anti-sabotage checks to ensure there were no explosives on the premises.
A senior police official said all threats are being treated with utmost seriousness, with enhanced surveillance and stricter access control in place.
