Jodhpur
Eight women developed serious health complications, including kidney-related problems, after undergoing caesarean section deliveries at a district hospital in Jodhpur, adding to growing concerns over similar incidents reported recently from other parts of Rajasthan.
According to hospital authorities, the women experienced excessive bleeding and a sharp drop in blood pressure following surgery. Two patients who later developed severe kidney infections were shifted to Mathuradas Mathur Hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
In response to the incident, the hospital administration has temporarily shut down its operation theatre and suspended all surgical procedures pending an investigation. Samples have been collected from the operation theatre for testing, officials said.
The development follows similar cases reported in Kota and Bikaner, where six women died after developing complications following caesarean deliveries. An expert team from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi and other central medical institutions is already investigating the deaths in Kota, while separate inquiries are underway in Bikaner.
B S Jodha said the eight caesarean procedures in Jodhpur were performed on Saturday.
He explained that one patient suffered severe bleeding, while another, who has diabetes, developed low blood pressure and anaemia—conditions that can negatively affect kidney function.
The remaining six women continue to be treated at the district hospital and are reported to be stable.
District Hospital PMO Kulbir Chopra said the condition of the six patients under treatment at the facility is currently stable.

Hospital officials stated that surgical operations will remain suspended until laboratory reports are received and the cause of the complications is determined.
