Nepal Police have arrested two Indian nationals, including a teenager, for allegedly possessing brown sugar in Madhesh Province, officials said on Monday.
According to the Narcotic Drug Control Bureau, the accused were identified as Ranjit Kumar Paswan, 28, and a 17-year-old boy, both residents of Madhubani district.
The arrests were made in the Lakadigoth area of Siraha district on Sunday evening. Police said they recovered 92.3 grams of brown sugar from the duo.
Authorities alleged that the suspects attempted to escape towards the India-Nepal border and hurled stones at officers during the operation. Police subsequently opened fire to stop them.
Paswan sustained bullet injuries in the incident, while a police personnel was also injured in the leg. Both have been admitted to a provincial hospital in Siraha district for treatment.

Nepal Police have taken both suspects into custody and further investigation is underway.
