A case has been registered against Uttar Pradesh Congress chief Ajay Rai in Mahoba district over alleged objectionable remarks made against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The complaint was filed by advocate Neeraj Rawat at the City Kotwali police station. According to police, the FIR also names 25 to 30 supporters, including former Congress Committee secretary Brijraj Ahirwar.
Reacting to the controversy, BJP national spokesperson C R Kesavan termed the remarks “unacceptable and condemnable” and accused the Congress leadership of encouraging such conduct among party workers.
Kesavan alleged that under Rahul Gandhi’s leadership, the Congress had lowered the standards of political discourse. He claimed Ajay Rai’s comments against the prime minister reflected the kind of politics being promoted within the opposition party.
The BJP leader also referred to Rahul Gandhi’s recent criticism of the Centre on economic and foreign policy matters, saying the Congress leader had repeatedly targeted the government in an irresponsible manner.
Earlier, Kesavan had described Rahul Gandhi as “politically bankrupt” while reacting to his remarks on global economic challenges and India’s diplomatic engagements. He further accused the Congress MP of tarnishing India’s image abroad through his statements.
