The Centre has taken action against coaching institutes for misleading advertisements, Union minister Pralhad Joshi said on Wednesday.

Responding during Question Hour in the Lok Sabha, Joshi said several notices have been issued to coaching centres and penalties imposed for violating consumer protection norms.

He added that complaints related to misleading advertisements have declined due to the steps taken by the government to safeguard consumer interests.

The minister emphasised that strict measures are being implemented to curb violations of consumer rights and ensure accountability among coaching institutes.

Earlier, the House paid tributes to former member Kavuru Sambasiva Rao, who passed away last week, with members observing silence as a mark of respect.
