Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal held separate high-level meetings with ministers from Tajikistan and Cambodia to strengthen bilateral trade and investment partnerships across key sectors.

In a post on X, Goyal said he met Sherali Kabir, Tajikistan’s Minister of Industry and New Technologies, and discussed ways to expand overall trade and boost investment flows between the two countries. The talks focused on collaboration in textiles, information technology, pharmaceuticals, food processing, critical minerals and tourism.

Goyal said both sides expressed commitment to creating new business opportunities and enhancing economic cooperation.

In another engagement, the minister met Cham Nimul, Cambodia’s Minister of Commerce. The discussions centred on further strengthening the growing trade and investment relationship and exploring new avenues for diversification across sectors. Goyal said the two sides examined ways to unlock greater opportunities for businesses and citizens in both countries.

Earlier, the minister also highlighted expanding India-Brazil economic engagement. He noted that bilateral trade between India and Brazil had grown by 25 per cent over the past year to reach USD 15 billion, but described the figure as below potential.

Referring to the leadership of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Goyal said both countries have set ambitious targets to expand cooperation and deepen economic ties.

He described India and Brazil as natural partners, underlining shared democratic values and a multi-sectoral strategic partnership. Brazil remains India’s largest trading partner in the Latin America and Caribbean region.

According to Goyal, collaboration between the two nations is expanding in areas such as pharmaceuticals, renewable energy, critical minerals, defence, aviation, science and technology, digital public infrastructure and artificial intelligence.
