India and Finland have renewed their Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on environmental cooperation to enhance joint efforts in areas such as pollution control, waste management, climate action, and sustainable use of natural resources.

Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav said the renewed agreement builds on the partnership established in 2020 and aims to expand collaboration through knowledge sharing and technological cooperation.

The development coincides with the ongoing four-day visit of Finnish President Alexander Stubb to India.

In a post on X, Yadav said the renewed MoU would deepen cooperation between the two countries in tackling environmental challenges, including pollution prevention, climate change mitigation, and forest and natural resource management.

Officials said the agreement will continue to provide a structured framework for collaboration and exchange of best practices between India and Finland. Key areas of cooperation include prevention and control of air and water pollution, remediation of contaminated soil, and improved waste management practices.

The partnership will also focus on issues such as handling hazardous waste, promoting waste-to-energy technologies, and strengthening recycling systems.
