External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal on Sunday extended a warm welcome to Thailand’s Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow as he arrived in New Delhi for his first official visit, highlighting that the trip offers an opportunity to further deepen the strategic partnership and longstanding civilisational ties between the two nations.
“A warm welcome to FM Sihasak Phuangketkeow on his first official visit to India… An opportune occasion to strengthen our Strategic Partnership and enduring civilisational ties,” Jaiswal wrote on X.
Phuangketkeow is on a four-day visit that concludes on December 2. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, he will attend official engagements in the capital on November 30 and meet External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on December 1 at Hyderabad House for bilateral talks.
The visit follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s trip to Bangkok in April for the 6th BIMSTEC Summit, where India and Thailand elevated their relationship to a Strategic Partnership. Several agreements were exchanged during that visit, covering digital cooperation, maritime heritage, MSME collaboration, and cultural projects.
