It’s Cherry harvesting time for horticulturists in Kashmir.

This season, farmers are happy about a high yield and newer varieties of the fruit that are the result of newer techniques introduced in Kashmir’s horticulture.

Cherry Harvest

Cherry plucking and packing is a labour-intensive process.

In a Cherry orchard, one can see labourers hand-picking bunches of cherries and others packing them in cartons.

The cherries are a delicate fruit and need careful handling, for it has a shorter shelf life.

 The harvesting of cherry fruit in Kashmir generates lots of employment, as all the work needs to be done by hand. Kashmir has received a good cherry crop this year.
