A Hindu Pandit family in Sangrur district of Punjab gifted a piece of land to the Muslims of Punnewal village to build a mosque, bringing joy to the community. This mosque was inaugurated on Sunday by the Shahi Imam of Punjab, Maulana Muhammad Usman Rahmani Ludhianvi.
The villagers – Hindus, Sikhs and Muslims celebrated the opening of a mosque, as namaz was offered there for the first time.

The masjid was decorated as the Muslims offered namaz, and others also prayed.
The development hasgiven a message of harmony
Pointing to two young persons standing by his side, he said, “The land for this mosque was given by Jaspal Ram and Ajay Ram’s family. “As is the tradition in Punjab, both Muslims and Hindus consider Sikhs as our elder brother, and that is the reason why all of us are here today.”

Realising this need, the family decided to donate their land for the mosque. They said that the completion of the mosque would benefit the village. Muslims have received great facilities.

The Shahi Imam said that Punjab has been in existence since the time of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. People of all religions have been taking care of each other's happiness and needs.

He said that today the village has carried forward this historical heritage. Shahi Imam Maulana Mohammad Usman Rahmani Ladhyanvi said that there is no scope for hatred in Punjab even though some people continue to spew venom on social media.
