A newly married couple was arrested with over 21 grams of heroin in Mandi district, police said on Wednesday.

The accused, identified as Arun Bhatti and Parul Guleria, were apprehended from a hotel in Sundernagar following a tip-off about alleged drug trafficking activities.

Police said a team conducted a raid and recovered 21.01 grams of ‘chitta’ (adulterated heroin) along with Rs 19,510 in cash from their possession.

Vinod Kumar, Superintendent of Police, confirmed that a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, and further investigation is underway.
