New Delhi
Union Minister J P Nadda on Tuesday congratulated Nitin Nabin on assuming charge as the BJP’s national president, expressing confidence that the party will expand into new regions and strengthen its footprint across the country under his leadership.
Addressing party leaders and workers at the BJP headquarters, Nadda said the party, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Nitin Nabin, would work towards electoral success in states where it has yet to form governments. He said the BJP aims to “make the lotus bloom” in West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Kerala, while also returning to power in Assam.
“You have taken on the responsibility as the 12th national president of such a great party. I extend my heartfelt congratulations,” Nadda said. He added that Nabin would leave no stone unturned in taking the world’s largest political party forward, with the collective support of party workers.

Reflecting on his own tenure, Nadda said he had carried out his responsibilities to the best of his abilities and apologised if his words or actions had unintentionally hurt anyone. He urged party workers to unite behind the new leadership to take the organisation to greater heights.
Nadda also acknowledged that the BJP’s performance in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections fell short of expectations and caused disappointment among voters. However, he said the electorate later reaffirmed its support for Prime Minister Modi and the BJP, resulting in victories in Haryana and Maharashtra, and the party’s return to power in Delhi after 27 years.
Recalling the post-Lok Sabha political landscape, Nadda said opposition parties had grown overconfident ahead of subsequent state elections but were proved wrong by the voters’ verdict, particularly in Haryana and Maharashtra.
Nitin Nabin formally took charge as BJP national president on Tuesday in the presence of Prime Minister Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, outgoing president J P Nadda, senior party leaders and chief ministers from BJP-ruled states.

A five-time MLA from Bihar, Nabin is known for his organisational skills and administrative experience. Born in Ranchi in 1980, he entered electoral politics early and has represented the Bankipur Assembly constituency since 2010. He has previously served as a cabinet minister in the Bihar government, handling portfolios including Law, Urban Development and Housing, and Road Construction.
