The Government of India has assured that there is no shortage of LPG or fuel across the country despite the ongoing West Asia crisis, with officials confirming that supply chains remain stable and uninterrupted.

Addressing an inter-ministerial briefing, Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, stated that no “dryout” situation has been reported at LPG distributorships or petrol pumps nationwide.

She highlighted that all fuel stations are functioning normally and that around 6,500 tonnes of commercial LPG were sold in a single day to meet demand. Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) have also taken proactive steps to ensure availability and public awareness.

To address consumer concerns, OMCs have organised nearly 1,300 awareness camps over the past few days, informing citizens about the availability of smaller 5-kg LPG cylinders. These camps have collectively facilitated the sale of over 10,000 cylinders.

A recent high-level review meeting led by the ministry directed states to prioritise LPG supply for domestic and essential needs, while maintaining strict vigilance against hoarding, diversion, and misinformation.

Officials further clarified that there is no disruption in LPG supply for migrant workers. States have been advised to manage targeted distribution of 5-kg Free Trade LPG cylinders based on local demand, in coordination with OMCs.

According to ministry data, the LPG supply situation remains firmly under control:

  • Around 6.75 lakh 5-kg Free Trade LPG cylinders have been sold nationwide since March 23, 2026.
  • Approximately 550 awareness camps have been organised earlier, with over 6,700 cylinders sold.
  • Online LPG bookings have reached nearly 97 per cent across the industry.
  • Delivery Authentication Code (DAC)-based deliveries have increased to around 90 per cent to curb diversion.
  • More than 18 crore domestic LPG cylinders have been delivered to households since March 1, 2026
