“Parliament is not a place for drama, it is a place for delivery,” Modi said, stressing that constructive, result-oriented debate should take precedence over disruption. He also offered to give “tips” to the opposition on bringing “positivity in politics”.
The remarks come against the backdrop of opposition protests that stalled much of the Monsoon Session over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar. Opposition parties have already warned that they may disrupt the Winter Session as well if the government does not agree to a discussion on the SIR exercise underway in nine states and three union territories.
Modi said some parties were yet to recover from the defeat in the Bihar polls. “Defeat should not be the ground to create disruption. Victory should not convert into arrogance either,” he said. The record voter turnout in Bihar, he added, reflects strength of democracy, and the opposition should “come out of its depression” instead of paralysing the House.
Claiming that the public has rejected the “game” played by the opposition for the last 10 years, the Prime Minister urged parties to “recognise the purpose of Parliament and come out of the frustration of defeat.”

Modi also emphasised giving space to young MPs. “Opportunities should be given to the new generation of parliamentarians. The House should benefit from their experiences, and through this House, the nation should gain from their fresh perspective,” he said.
