PM Modi assures Lanka of continued support after Cyclone Ditwah

New Delhi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday spoke with Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and assured India’s continued support for rehabilitation efforts after Cyclone Ditwah.

Modi conveyed condolences over the loss of lives and said India stands in solidarity with Sri Lanka. Dissanayake thanked India for its swift deployment of rescue teams and relief supplies.

Modi said assistance under Operation Sagar Bandhu would continue, reaffirming India’s role as a “First Responder” under Vision MAHASAGAR.

The leaders agreed to stay in close touch.

Cyclone Ditwah affected over 11.5 lakh people across Sri Lanka, with the death toll rising to 366 and 367 people reported missing as of Monday evening.
