Gandhinagar
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday inaugurated the Samrat Samprati Museum at Koba Tirth in Gandhinagar on the occasion of Mahavir Jayanti.
Located within the Mahavir Jain Aradhana Kendra campus, the museum is dedicated to Samrat Samprati, the grandson of Emperor Ashoka, and highlights the rich historical, cultural and spiritual legacy of Jainism.
As part of his Gujarat visit, the prime minister is also set to launch, inaugurate, and lay the foundation stone for multiple development projects worth over ₹20,000 crore, spanning infrastructure, energy, railways, healthcare, and tourism.
Among the key highlights is the inauguration of the Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway, an access-controlled highway built at a cost exceeding ₹5,100 crore. Modi will also lay the foundation stone for several major road projects, including the four-lane Idar-Badoli bypass and the upgradation of the Dholavira-Mauvana-Vauva-Santalpur highway section.
To improve urban mobility, the prime minister will inaugurate and initiate work on flyovers at key junctions such as Bhaijipura and PDPU in the Gandhinagar region. These projects are expected to ease congestion on the busy Gandhinagar–airport corridor, which handles over 1.4 lakh vehicles daily.
In the energy sector, Modi will inaugurate key transmission projects, including the Khavda Pooling Station-2 and associated systems designed to evacuate 4.5 GW of renewable energy. These initiatives, worth around ₹3,650 crore, are aimed at strengthening green energy integration.
Rail infrastructure will also see a boost, with the dedication of projects such as the Kanalus-Jamnagar doubling line and the Gandhidham-Adipur section quadrupling. The Himmatnagar-Khedbrahma gauge conversion project will be inaugurated, along with the flagging off of a new train service connecting Khedbrahma, Himmatnagar and Asarwa.
In the urban development sector, 44 projects worth around ₹5,300 crore will be launched across the state. Healthcare infrastructure will be enhanced with facilities such as an 858-bed rain basera at Civil Hospital in Ahmedabad and similar amenities in Gandhinagar.
Tourism initiatives include the inauguration of a light and sound show at Rani ki Vav in Patan and a water screen projection show at Sharmishtha Lake in Vadnagar. Foundation stones will also be laid for tourism infrastructure projects at Balaram Mahadev and Vishweshwar Mahadev in Banaskantha.
Additionally, two major water pipeline projects worth about ₹1,780 crore—Kasara-Dantiwada and Dindrol-Mukteshwar—will be dedicated to the nation, alongside the foundation stone for a water supply scheme in Ambaji and nearby rural areas.
The prime minister will also initiate three Sabarmati Riverfront expansion projects in Gandhinagar district, with a combined investment of around ₹1,000 crore, and inaugurate a government boys’ hostel in Vejalpur, Ahmedabad.
