Former Bihar Chief Minister and senior RJD leader Rabri Devi on Saturday made it clear that she has no intention of vacating her long-time official residence at 10 Circular Road in Patna, despite receiving a notice from the state government directing her to leave the premises.

Speaking to journalists, Rabri Devi firmly stated that she would continue to occupy the bungalow even if the administration attempted to enforce the order.

"They may send officials or even security personnel, but I am not going to vacate the house," she said.

The controversy erupted after the Bihar government issued a formal notice on Friday asking the former chief minister to hand over possession of the government bungalow. The residence has reportedly been reassigned to Bihar's Minister for Animal and Fisheries Resources, Nand Kishore Ram.

According to the government, Rabri Devi had already been allotted another official accommodation in her role as the Leader of Opposition in the Bihar Legislative Council. However, authorities claim that she has continued to occupy the Circular Road residence despite the alternative arrangement.

Official records indicate that a residence on Hardinge Road was earmarked for the Leader of Opposition and allocated to Rabri Devi through a departmental order issued in November 2025. Subsequently, the government allotted the 10 Circular Road bungalow to Minister Nand Kishore Ram through a separate notification.

The administration has requested Rabri Devi to immediately shift to the accommodation designated for her current constitutional position and vacate the Circular Road property so that the new allottee can take possession.

The bungalow at 10 Circular Road holds considerable political significance in Bihar. It has been closely associated with the family of RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav for decades. Rabri Devi governed the state from the same residence during her tenure as chief minister, making it one of the most recognisable political addresses linked to the Rashtriya Janata Dal.
