Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has stressed the importance of research, technology and scientific validation in expanding the global reach of Ayurveda, saying traditional healthcare systems can gain wider acceptance when supported by evidence-based studies and innovation.
Speaking at the inauguration of a new research facility established by Rasayu Life Sciences in Pune's Karvenagar area, Sawant said organisations working at the intersection of traditional medicine and modern science are playing a key role in advancing Ayurveda.
He noted that the creation of the Ministry of AYUSH under Prime Minister Narendra Modi had significantly strengthened research efforts in the field of traditional medicine. According to him, institutions such as Rasayu Life Sciences are helping develop internationally accepted Ayurvedic treatments by combining classical knowledge with modern scientific methodologies.
Sawant praised the organisation's work in areas such as clinical research, scientific documentation and personalised medicine, saying these efforts could enhance the credibility and effectiveness of Ayurvedic therapies worldwide.
The chief minister also highlighted the research undertaken by the institution in cancer care and other health sectors, observing that scientifically documented studies have demonstrated the potential of Ayurveda in addressing complex medical challenges. He expressed hope that the new facility would further accelerate innovation and drug development based on traditional Indian medicine.
The event was attended by Rajya Sabha member and chairperson of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Science and Technology, Prof. Medha Kulkarni, along with Rasayu Life Sciences founders Vaidya Yogesh Bendale and Vaidya Vinita Bendale.
Kulkarni commended the organisation's emphasis on research-driven Ayurveda and said its approach of identifying disease causes through systematic scientific inquiry was noteworthy. She also underlined the importance of indigenous research in developing affordable and accessible medicines.
Addressing the gathering, Yogesh Bendale said Rasayu Life Sciences was established with the objective of integrating Ayurveda with modern research and technology. He said the organisation's journey spanning more than three decades has resulted in over 45 patents and numerous research initiatives.
Bendale added that the institution remains committed to advancing scientific studies, clinical validation and the development of innovative Ayurvedic therapies aimed at addressing contemporary healthcare needs.
