The Madhya Pradesh government is developing Shri Ram Raja Lok in Orchha on the lines of the Mahakal Lok in Ujjain, which has transformed its economy by drawing a large number of devotees, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said on Monday.

Yadav also inspected the ongoing construction work at Shri Ram Raja Lok, a historical and major centre of faith in Orchha.

"Lord Shri Ram spent 12 years of his 14-year exile in Chitrakoot. Connecting and preserving our glorious religious and cultural heritage with future generations is a priority of the Madhya Pradesh government," he said.

"In view of this, the magnificent Shri Ram Raja Lok is being constructed in Orchha, which will become a major pilgrimage site for devotees from across the country and the world in the future," Yadav told reporters on the sidelines of the BJP's state executive meeting here.

He noted that after the construction of Shri Mahakal Mahalok, Ujjain's economy has undergone a major transformation, and the number of devotees has increased significantly.

Along these lines, comprehensive development of Madhya Pradesh's major pilgrimage sites will be undertaken, which will not only promote religious tourism but will also create new employment opportunities locally, the CM said.

A wonderful tourist destination is being developed here through the Madhya Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation, he said.

The temple of Raja Ram in Orchha is a historical and cultural treasure. "The establishments made by the rulers here are a living example of this, which keeps us connected to our ancient heritage and culture," he said.

The CM noted that previously, there were no ACs; still, the buildings gave an air-conditioned feeling, keeping the atmosphere cool in the summer and warm in the winter.

Orchha was known as the capital of Bundelkhand, the home of our glorious Bundela kings of the past.

"The old structures and buildings here represent our rich heritage. The government is working to revive them and develop them," Yadav said.

"They will be rebuilt using the same materials used in their construction, ensuring their original form is maintained. Our skilled artisans are working to achieve this," he added.

The CM took stock of the construction progress and directed the officials to ensure timely completion with quality.
