Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayaka is scheduled to arrive in India on Tuesday evening to participate in the AI Impact Summit 2026, the Sri Lankan High Commission said in a statement.

The High Commission noted that the Global AI Impact Summit is the first international summit of its kind to be hosted in the Global South. At a time when emerging technologies are rapidly reshaping economies and societies, Sri Lanka’s participation reflects the depth and priority of the India–Sri Lanka partnership and their shared commitment to ensuring that innovation remains inclusive, responsible and people-centred.

Building on the President’s landmark State Visit to India in December 2024 and the joint vision titled “Fostering Partnerships for a Shared Future,” the statement said that Sri Lanka and India have maintained strong momentum across key areas such as connectivity, economic engagement, digital cooperation, capacity building and people-to-people ties.

It added that as one of the South Asian leaders attending the summit, President Dissanayaka’s presence underlines both the closeness of bilateral ties and the shared resolve to work together on issues that will shape the future.

“Rooted in proximity, strengthened by trust, and guided by practical cooperation, the India–Sri Lanka partnership continues to evolve with purpose,” the statement said.

The Global AI Impact Summit brings together world leaders, policymakers, technology companies, innovators and experts to deliberate on the transformative potential of artificial intelligence across governance, innovation and sustainable development.
