Rajouri
In a major boost to educational infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pir Panjal region, a dedicated civil services coaching centre — The Officers' IAS/JKAS Coaching Institute — was inaugurated in Rajouri on Wednesday.
The institute seeks to equip aspirants from Rajouri, Poonch, and nearby border areas with high-quality coaching for the UPSC Civil Services, JKAS, and other competitive examinations — opportunities that many students in the region have traditionally struggled to access.
Preeti Sharma, Director and Founder of the institute, said the initiative has been tailored to support talented students who possess immense potential but lack the necessary resources and exposure.
“This initiative is for bright students, especially from the Rajouri and Poonch areas, as they have a great deal of potential but lack opportunities and platforms,” she told ANI at the launch.
Sharma added that the centre aims to eliminate the financial and logistical hurdles faced by local youth. “We have provided coaching facilities at the doorstep for students who cannot afford to go to Delhi. The faculty that teaches at the Jammu facility will also be provided at Rajouri. Our new GS batch is starting on the 15th,” she said.
Local youth welcomed the development, calling it a transformational step for the region. Aspirant Tahir Nazir said the centre would reduce dependence on distant cities for quality preparation.
“It is a great initiative by the Officers' IAS/JKAS Coaching Institute. Students who would normally go to Jammu or Delhi for preparation now have an option available here, with the best faculty provided. This will also support youth who cannot afford to go outside,” he said.
With the institute now operational, many believe it will help close long-standing educational gaps and increase the number of civil services achievers emerging from the Pir Panjal region.
