Narendra Modi on Thursday extended his greetings to the people of Maharashtra and Goa on the occasion of Gudi Padwa, describing it as a celebration that represents hope, renewal, and new beginnings.

In his message, the prime minister highlighted that the festival, which marks the start of the New Year, carries deep cultural and historical importance. He noted that the ‘gudi’, a symbolic flag raised outside homes, signifies victory, prosperity, and optimism.

Modi said the festival reflects the triumph of righteousness over adversity and also marks the arrival of spring, a season associated with renewal and rejuvenation.

Emphasising its relevance in modern times, he said that as India continues on its path of growth and self-reliance, the values embodied by Gudi Padwa remain significant. Traditions like these, he added, help people stay connected to their roots even in a rapidly changing world.
