Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay will undertake his first official visit to New Delhi on Wednesday, during which he is expected to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several Union ministers, an official said on Tuesday.

Senior officials from the Tamil Nadu government are already in the national capital ahead of the visit.

During the trip, Vijay is likely to seek additional financial assistance for the state and press for approval of key infrastructure and development projects for Tamil Nadu.

Vijay, founder of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), assumed office as chief minister on May 10 after leading the party to victory in the April 23 Assembly elections.
