Authorities issued 445 traffic violation notices and seized 60 vehicles during a special enforcement drive to improve road safety across the Jammu division, an official said on Monday.
The action was taken for violations under the Motor Vehicles Act. Officials also recommended the suspension of 64 driving licences and 20 vehicle registration certificates for serious offences affecting road safety.
According to the official, the total penalty collected during the drive amounted to ₹18.18 lakh.
The enforcement campaign was conducted by the Motor Vehicles Department on the directions of Vishesh Paul Mahajan, Transport Commissioner of Jammu and Kashmir.
The drive was carried out across several districts including Jammu, Udhampur, Samba, Reasi, Rajouri, Poonch, Ramban, Kishtwar and Doda on Sunday.
During the operation, authorities set up 24 checkpoints at strategic locations and inspected 2,494 vehicles.

Officials said the violations detected included overloading, driving without valid documents, permit violations, overspeeding and dangerous driving.
