Chief of Army Staff Upendra Dwivedi met Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav at the latter’s residence on Monday, where discussions focused on motivating young people to join the armed forces.

Sharing details of the meeting, the Chief Minister said that Bhopal will host the next Indian Army Day parade on January 15, with Rajnath Singh expected to attend the event.

Yadav noted that the celebrations will begin from January 9 and include a range of activities such as ‘Shaurya Sandhya’, military exhibitions, and combat demonstrations. He added that hosting the event in Bhopal would help deepen public respect for the armed forces and highlight India’s military traditions.

Observed annually on January 15, Army Day marks the historic moment in 1949 when K M Cariappa took over command of the Indian Army from F R R Bucher, becoming the first Indian Commander-in-Chief after Independence.

The occasion is commemorated with a ceremonial parade that showcases the Army’s discipline, operational strength, and modern capabilities through marching contingents, equipment displays, and tactical demonstrations.
