Social media platform X, owned by Elon Musk, faced a sudden disruption on Monday, with users in India and several other countries reporting trouble accessing the service, according to outage monitoring site Downdetector.
Many users said they were unable to log in, refresh their timelines or post updates, as complaints quickly mounted on the tracking platform.
Data from Downdetector indicated that approximately 3,357 users in India flagged issues during the outage. Of those, 46 per cent reported problems with the website, 45 per cent with the mobile application, and about 9 per cent said they were unable to refresh their feeds.
The disruption was not limited to India. Users in the United States and the United Kingdom also experienced service interruptions. In the UK, reports peaked around 7:11 pm, with nearly 10,958 complaints logged. Among them, 56 per cent cited difficulties with the app, 21 per cent faced issues with the timeline, and 17 per cent encountered website-related problems.
In the United States, outage reports surged around 7 pm, with as many as 41,369 users flagging disruptions.
Although services appeared to be gradually restored for many users within about an hour, the company had not issued an official statement at the time of reporting.

The incident comes roughly a month after a previous large-scale outage affected the platform, when nearly 200,000 users reported problems. According to a report by Variety, most of the earlier complaints—about 56 per cent—were linked to the mobile app, while 33 per cent involved the website and 10 per cent were related to server connection issues.
