Namita Thapar, who, along with her friend and CEO of Sugar Cosmetics Vineeta Singh, appeared on the TV reality show Shark Tank India as a judge, has enumerated the benefits of namaz, the Muslim prayer for body and mind.
In a social media post, Thapar, who is known for her wellness and health regimen through her social media postings, said that she gathered this information after speaking with a Muslim friend during the Eid celebration.
She explained that when her friends explained the health benefits of various prayer postures, she was deeply impressed and felt it necessary to share them with society.
In her video message, Namita explained that the various namaz postures act as a complete exercise for the body.
According to her, praying helps maintain a healthy digestive system and improves blood circulation. She also specifically mentioned that namaz postures are extremely beneficial for those suffering from joint pain, as they lead to flexibility in the body.
Besides, the five-time namaz regimen, she says, provides a break from routine and chaos, leading to mental peace and focus.
She qualified her statement by saying that prayers in all religions are beneficial for the body and mind, explaining the specific benefits of Namaz.
However, some people took offence to her views and trolled her on social media.
Some YouTube channels misrepresented Namita's statements and launched personal attacks against her.
Some trolls mocked her business career, while others tried to turn it into a "yoga versus namaz" debate. They argued why Namita didn't praise yoga, while the reality is that praising one thing doesn't mean insulting another.
