India captain Suryakumar Yadav climbed five places to seventh in the latest ICC men’s T20I batting rankings on Wednesday, following an impressive run in the ongoing five-match home series against New Zealand, which India currently lead 3-0.
The former world No.1 batter registered scores of 32, 82 not out and 57 not out in the series, propelling his rise up the rankings. India continue to dominate the top positions, with Abhishek Sharma holding the No.1 spot and Tilak Varma placed third, as teams gear up for the T20 World Cup, now just days away.
Several other Indian batters also made gains. Ishan Kishan re-entered the rankings at 64th after a blistering 76 off 32 balls in the second match at Raipur. Shivam Dube jumped nine places to 58th, while Rinku Singh surged 13 spots to 68th, reflecting India’s depth in T20 batting.
Afghanistan’s batters also saw notable progress after their 2-1 series win over the West Indies in Dubai. Openers Ibrahim Zadran and Rahmanullah Gurbaz moved up to 13th and 15th respectively, while Player of the Series Darwish Rasooli made a significant leap of 29 places to 87th after scoring 156 runs.
South Africa captain Aiden Markram entered the top 20 following his unbeaten 86 off 47 balls against the West Indies. West Indies batter Brandon King climbed 15 places to 35th, while New Zealand’s Glenn Phillips advanced 18 spots to 44th.
In the T20I bowling rankings, Afghanistan spinner Mujeeb ur Rahman rose five places to ninth after claiming four for 21 against the West Indies. India’s Jasprit Bumrah moved up four places to 13th, while Ravi Bishnoi jumped 13 spots to 19th. South Africa’s Corbin Bosch also progressed eight places to a career-best 32nd.
India all-rounder Hardik Pandya recorded significant gains across categories. He surged 18 places to 59th in the bowling rankings after taking four wickets in three matches, moved up two places to 53rd among batters, and climbed one spot to third in the all-rounders’ list.
Meanwhile, in the ODI rankings, England batters Harry Brook and Joe Root made major strides following England’s 2-1 series win in Sri Lanka. Brook’s 247 runs lifted him 17 places to 11th, while Root advanced from 23rd to 17th after scoring 184 runs.

In the ODI bowling charts, England leg-spinner Adil Rashid rose six places to fifth with seven wickets in the series, while Sri Lanka’s Dunith Wellalage climbed from 43rd to 29th.
