National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval has emphased the need for urgent reform in the multilateral system for addressing global issues with credibility, equity and accountability.
He was speaking at the meeting of the BRICS NSAs held in virtual on Wednesday.
BRICS is a multi-nation group comprising Indian, Brazil, Russia, China and South Africa.
On the issue of terrorism, Doval said there is a need to bolster cooperation against terrorism without any reservations. He appreciated the cooperation ongoing in the BRICS Counter-Terrorism Working Group.
He asked the BRICS nations to continue cooperation against the challenges of pandemics and climate change. Doval spoke about the importance of cooperation in the areas of Information & Communication Technology (ICT) security (preventing its use by terrorists), outer space and maritime security
On the takeaways from the pandemic, Doval asked BRICS nations to ensure “Trusted and resilient supply chains.”
