China will provide humanitarian assistance worth USD 200,000 to the Iranian Red Crescent Society amid the ongoing tensions in West Asia, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said on Friday.
According to reports, Guo also condemned indiscriminate attacks on civilians and non-military targets during the conflict.
He said Beijing remains willing to maintain communication with all parties involved to help de-escalate tensions in the region.
“We will continue to strengthen communication with all relevant parties, including those directly involved in the conflict, and play a constructive role in easing tensions and restoring peace in the Middle East,” Guo said while addressing a press briefing.
Guo also said Wang Yi has criticised the United States and Israel for allegedly violating international law while continuing peace talks with Iran.
Earlier, China expressed concern over disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz amid the escalating conflict and urged relevant parties to halt military operations immediately.
“The Strait of Hormuz and nearby waters are an important route for international goods and energy trade. Keeping the region safe and stable serves the common interests of the international community,” Guo said.
He called on all parties, particularly the United States, Israel and Iran, to prioritise de-escalation and prevent the crisis from affecting the global economy.

“The pressing priority now is for relevant parties to stop military operations at once, avoid further escalation and prevent the regional turmoil from having a larger impact on global economic growth,” he added.
