Former Maldives Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid on Thursday praised India’s military response under Operation Sindoor and commended New Delhi’s role in tackling cross-border terrorism and promoting regional security.
In a post on X, Shahid recalled the anniversary of the operation and expressed appreciation for India’s continued efforts against terrorism. He stated that India’s actions reflected its commitment to maintaining peace and stability in the region.
Earlier in the day, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar reaffirmed India’s firm stance against terrorism while marking one year of Operation Sindoor. In a message shared on X, Jaishankar said the operation demonstrated India’s resolve to respond decisively to cross-border terrorism originating from Pakistan and ensure accountability for such attacks.
He added that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has maintained a policy of zero tolerance towards terrorism and remains committed to safeguarding national security.
Minister of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita also paid tribute to the armed forces, describing the operation as a display of precision, courage, and coordination among India’s military and intelligence agencies.
Operation Sindoor was launched on May 7, 2025, following the Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 civilians lost their lives. The operation was designed as a targeted campaign aimed at dismantling terrorist infrastructure across the Line of Control and inside Pakistan.
According to official accounts, the operation relied on intelligence inputs identifying nine major terror camps, which were subsequently targeted through coordinated military action. Authorities said the mission was carried out with careful planning to minimise collateral damage and avoid civilian casualties.
Following the strikes, Pakistan reportedly attempted retaliatory drone and unmanned combat aerial vehicle attacks against Indian military installations and logistics infrastructure. Indian air defence systems successfully intercepted these threats using an Integrated Command and Control Strategy that enabled real-time monitoring and response across multiple operational domains.
