King Abdullah II on Tuesday praised India’s economic growth under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and highlighted Jordan’s strategic potential as a regional hub to expand trade and economic cooperation linking South Asia with the Middle East, Africa and Europe.

Addressing the India-Jordan Business Forum in Amman, the King said India’s growth trajectory presents strong opportunities for deeper economic engagement.

“Under the great leadership of Prime Minister Modi, India has witnessed remarkable growth, and we look forward to working together to take our economic partnership to greater heights,” King Abdullah II said.

He expressed confidence that the forum would strengthen bilateral ties and enhance trade and investment cooperation. Highlighting areas for collaboration, he pointed to agriculture, the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEEC), and advanced industries as sectors offering mutual benefits.

The King said Jordan offers competitive advantages in food processing, fertilisers, pharmaceuticals, textiles, ICT, energy, mining, tourism, advanced manufacturing and logistics.

“With Jordan’s strategic location and network of free trade agreements, combined with India’s economic strength and industrial capabilities, we have the potential to build an economic corridor linking South Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Europe,” he said, inviting Indian businesses to leverage Jordan as a logistics and processing hub along IMEC routes.

Describing the forum as a “catalyst” for new joint ventures, investments and knowledge exchange, King Abdullah II called for long-term partnerships between the two countries.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is in Jordan as part of his three-nation tour, later hailed the outcomes of the visit, saying they marked an important step in expanding India-Jordan ties across sectors ranging from renewable energy to digital innovation.

Earlier, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal had shared the outcomes of the visit, including MoUs on renewable energy and water resource management, a twinning agreement between Petra and Ellora, renewal of the Cultural Exchange Programme for 2025–29, and a letter of intent on cooperation in digital public infrastructure.
