Authorities in Iran said they have dismantled a “terrorist cell” in the northern Golestan province, arresting two suspects accused of planning an armed attack on security forces.
According to Tasnim News Agency, intelligence units identified the group through surveillance and public inputs, alleging links to the United States and Israel. A raid in the city of Gorgan led to the recovery of four Colt rifles and ammunition. The suspects were detained before the alleged plot could be executed.
Meanwhile, tensions escalated across the region. In Israel, four drones reportedly entered its airspace from Lebanon, with three intercepted by air defence systems, according to The Jerusalem Post. The fourth drone was being tracked over the Haifa Bay area. No casualties or damage were reported.
In Bahrain, authorities issued a public safety alert after warning sirens were activated, urging residents to remain calm and move to safe locations.
Separately, a missile launched from Yemen towards southern Israel triggered sirens in Beersheba and surrounding areas. The Israel Defense Forces said air defence systems were activated, with no immediate reports of casualties.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) also claimed it had targeted US military vessels in the Persian Gulf, though these claims have not been independently verified.
