Iran on Tuesday said it has no plans to hold meetings with the United States in the coming days, clarifying that ongoing engagements in Doha are limited to technical discussions on implementing the recently agreed 14-point memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at easing tensions in West Asia.

Addressing a press briefing, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said there were no scheduled meetings with US officials at any level in the immediate future.

"Basically, we have no plans to meet with the American side at any level in the next few days," Baghaei said, according to Iranian state broadcaster IRIB.

He stressed that the discussions taking place in Doha are not political negotiations with Washington but technical consultations focused on implementing provisions of the MoU, including the release of Iran's frozen assets.

"What will be done in Doha tomorrow is a discussion on the implementation of clauses of the memorandum of understanding, including the release of Iran's frozen assets, which is with the Qatari side," he said.

Baghaei reiterated that Iran would fulfil its obligations under the agreement only if the other parties honoured their commitments.

"We will implement our commitments as long as the other side implements its commitments," he said, adding that the agreement clearly outlines the responsibilities of all parties, including the United States.

Earlier in the day, Qatar's Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majed Mohammed Al-Ansari said the meetings in Doha form part of broader regional mediation efforts and include discussions related to Iran.

He noted that US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and senior presidential adviser Jared Kushner are in Doha to meet Qatari officials and mediators, but are not engaged in direct negotiations with Iranian representatives.

According to Al-Ansari, the current phase involves technical teams working on implementing the 14-point MoU reached earlier this month in Switzerland, where the parties also agreed to establish a High-Level Committee and prepare a roadmap for a final agreement within 60 days.

He said the technical teams continue to move between Doha and other locations depending on the progress of the discussions, emphasising that the process remains at the implementation stage rather than the political negotiation phase.

Commenting on Iran's frozen assets, Al-Ansari said the USD 6 billion currently held abroad has not yet been transferred to Tehran. He added that any release of the funds would depend on progress in the implementation of the agreement, with financial arrangements remaining tied to developments in the ongoing diplomatic process.
