Famous Islamic scholar Maulana Mahmood Madani, national president of Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind, has been included in the list of the 50 most influential Muslim leaders of the world.
His name figures in the list of the Royal Islamic Strategic Study center (RISSC) of Jordon of the 500 influential Muslim personalities in the world. Maulana Madani figures at 13th place in the list.
The list of 500 people features many personalities from different fields around the world (politics, sociology, education, science, etc.).
Interestingly, Maulana Mahmood Madani is the only Indian in the top 50 of the list of this famous institute.
Barelvi Maulvi Mufti Akhtar Raza Khan Qadri Azhari, who has since passed away, also figures in the list.
RISSC also mentions Maulana Madani’s services to the nation and society.
It says that Maulana Mahmud Madani played an important role in the fight for the rights of Muslims in India. He has also been vocal against terrorism.
He got a fatwa against terrorism issued from Darul Uloom Deoband. Along with this, he also organized anti-terrorism conferences across the country and that had a positive impact on the Muslims of India.
Maulana Mahmood Madani has globally opposed the controversial and absurd statement of Pakistan's representative in the United Nations calling Darul Uloom Deoband a center of terrorism.
He has also lodged a written protest against this statement of Islamabad. The Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind headed by Maulana Mahmood Madani it was established a century ago.
