Pakistan and Turkiye on Wednesday welcomed the recent understanding reached between the United States and Iran aimed at bringing an end to more than three months of conflict between the two countries.

According to Pakistan's Foreign Office, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan during which the two leaders discussed the latest developments related to the agreement.

Both ministers expressed support for the progress achieved between Washington and Tehran and exchanged views on the proposed signing of a Memorandum of Understanding scheduled to take place in Burgenstock, Switzerland, on June 19.

The conversation also covered preparations for the upcoming Regional Four Foreign Ministers' meeting, which is expected to bring together the foreign ministers of Egypt, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye later this month.

In addition, the two leaders reviewed bilateral relations and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening the longstanding ties and cooperation between their countries.

The diplomatic engagement follows US President Donald Trump announcing earlier this week that Washington and Tehran had finalised an agreement intended to end a 107-day conflict that had disrupted regional stability and contributed to uncertainty in global energy markets.
