Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday spoke with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, briefing him on Islamabad’s diplomatic efforts aimed at easing tensions in West Asia.
In a post on X, Sharif said the two leaders discussed the evolving regional situation along with exchanging Eid-ul-Fitr greetings. The conversation comes shortly after Pakistan offered to facilitate dialogue between the United States and Iran to help resolve the ongoing conflict.
Spoke with my dear brother His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to convey warm Eid-ul-Fitr greetings to The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, His Majesty King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Royal Family and the brotherly people of Saudi Arabia.

During the call, Sharif praised Saudi Arabia’s restraint and emphasised the urgent need to reduce tensions, halt hostilities, and promote unity within the Muslim world. He also shared details of Pakistan’s outreach initiatives for ensuring peace and stability in the region. Both sides agreed to stay in close coordination.
Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s strong condemnation of recent attacks on Saudi Arabia and assured full solidarity with the Kingdom during the current crisis. He also extended festive greetings to King Salman and the Saudi royal family.
A day earlier, the Pakistani prime minister had expressed readiness to host “meaningful and result-oriented” talks between Washington and Tehran. His offer gained attention after US President Donald Trump shared Sharif’s message on his Truth Social platform.
According to reports, the United States has already conveyed a ceasefire proposal to Iran through Pakistan as part of ongoing diplomatic efforts.
Separately, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held discussions with several global leaders, including UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, stressing the importance of dialogue as the only viable path to peace.
Dar also met British High Commissioner Jane Marriott and Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong, with talks focusing on the rapidly evolving regional situation. In all meetings, he underlined the urgency of de-escalation and the need for diplomatic solutions.
Pakistan, officials said, remains engaged with both the US and Iran, facilitating backchannel communication and helping shape initial proposals aimed at resolving the conflict.
