She loved music and would often hum her favourite tunes. Her aunt was an admirer of her voice. It was due to her efforts that she auditioned in 'Saregamapa Little Champs' and got selected. “At that time, I was ten years old, for the first time on that stage, I sang my favourite songthe song 'Unse mile nazar to mere hosh udd gaye'.

At that time, Alka Yagnik, who was one of the judges on the show, liked her song. She remarked, "I did not take any music training." Despite having made it to the top 8, I got recognition. When I returned to Lucknow, the people gave me so much love that I started learning music.

Farah says, “My family was not happy with my inclinations towards singing. The first time I sang a song, my Grandmother called me and I was scolded. Since I belong to a very religious family where most of them people have been to Hajj and say namaz five times a day, nobody liked my singing."
