Tasnim Rahman is one of the toppers of Guwahati’s Don Bosco School in the 10th grade examination the result of which were recently declared by the CBSE. Her talent is not confined to academics; she is also a national-level basketball player. Managing both sports and studies, Tasnim stands out among other toppers.
Tasnim Rahman brought pride to her school by securing 97 per cent marks in the Class X examinations. She scored 100 out of 100 in English, 99 in Information Technology (IT), 98 in Social Science, 92 in Science, 94 in Mathematics and 94 in the Assamese language.
Tasnim, the daughter of senior journalist Daulat Rahman, who is associated with Awaz-the Voice, and teacher Mehboba Begum, of Lachit Nagar, Guwahati, has brought pride not only to her family but to the entire neighbourhood.

She has represented Assam multiple times in national-level sport topurnaments.
Tasnim Rahman told Awaz-the Voice, “I am very happy. I have achieved the result I expected. I thank my parents for supporting me at every step; my teachers have also helped me greatly. I studied at Don Bosco School for 10 years; the school is like a second home to me. My classmates have also achieved very good results, which makes me even happier.”
Before the exams, Tasnim studied for about 10 hours daily. After her school, she attended her tuition classes and later did self-study. Amid all these, she took time out for basketball, which, she says helped her manage academic stress.
“After playing basketball, if I felt tired, I would sleep for about two hours. Then I would wake up and return to studying. As soon as I was promoted to Class X, I increased my study time. When I am on the playground, I don’t think about anything else except my game. While playing, I meet my friends, which helps reduce my mental stress. As a result, I can concentrate better on my studies,” Tasnim said.

This talented student has shown that proper time management makes everything possible. “I have a strong desire to do something meaningful for Assam and the country. Only by progressing in all aspects can we help others. To serve society, one must first advance in every field oneself. Our school places great importance on this aspect; besides studies, we are always encouraged to work for the service of humanity,” she said.
When asked about her plans, Tasnim said, “I have already represented Assam multiple times and hope to continue doing better in basketball. Academically, I have decided to enrol in the Commerce stream in senior secondary education. There are many promising fields in Commerce, such as banking, Chartered Accountancy (CA), Company Secretary (CS), etc. However, only after achieving good results in higher secondary, will I decide on a career.”
Tansim’s parents always encouraged her in both academics and sports.

She said after noticing Tasnim’s passion for sports, “We encouraged her, and she has performed very well in that as well. I would ask all parents to give time to their children. Although we all remain busy in our professional lives, it is essential to spend time with children.”
