Lovely Professional University (LPU) celebrated its 12th Annual Convocation on Friday, marking a major milestone for over 50,000 graduating students, with Vice-President CP Radhakrishnan attending as Chief Guest.
Addressing the students, the Vice-President urged them to live not just for themselves, but for society, emphasizing values of integrity, compassion, and service. He also lauded LPU initiatives like promoting Made-in-India products on campus and the Jai Jawan Scholarship, while appealing to youth to stay away from drug abuse.
The convocation was presided over by Punjab Governor and Chandigarh Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria, who highlighted the importance of ethics, character-building, and civic responsibility for nation-building.
Adding international significance, LPU conferred the Degree of Doctorate Honoris Causa on former UK Prime Minister Mary Elizabeth Truss for her leadership and public service. She encouraged graduates to innovate, take risks, learn from failures, and lead with conviction.
Founder-Chancellor Ashok Kumar Mittal reiterated LPU’s commitment to nurturing leaders and innovators, urging students to translate their education into societal impact. The ceremony also honoured 861 PhD scholars, 320 academic medalists—including 37 gold medallists—and graduates from 2023-24 and 2024-25 batches across regular, online, and distance programmes.

The event saw the presence of several dignitaries, including Lovely Group Chairman Ramesh Mittal, Vice-Chairman Naresh Mittal, Pro-Chancellor Rashmi Mittal, Punjab Horticulture Minister Mohinder Bhagat, and LPU Director General HR Singla.
