Actor Anupam Kher revisited the railway track where one of the most memorable scenes from Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge was filmed and appealed to the government to develop the location as a tourist attraction.

Directed by Aditya Chopra and released in 1995, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge starred Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol as Raj and Simran, whose love story became one of Indian cinema’s most enduring romances.

Kher, who played Raj’s father Dharamvir in the film, shared a video on Instagram from Apta Railway Station, where the iconic train sequence was shot.

In the video, the actor described the location as a landmark in Indian cinema history, saying every Indian across the world would remember the scene in which Raj extends his hand to Simran as she runs toward the moving train.

Drawing a comparison with international film heritage sites, Kher said visiting the location felt like going to Sicily for scenes from The Godfather.

He also thanked late filmmaker Yash Chopra and Aditya Chopra for including him in what he called an iconic film.

In his post, Kher said the cast had no idea at the time of filming that they were creating such a landmark moment in Hindi cinema and urged authorities to preserve the site by developing it as a tourist destination.
