Period drama “Kaantha”, starring Dulquer Salmaan, will hit Netflix on December 12, 2025. The film will be available in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam, and for Kannada viewers, it will stream under the title “Shaantha.”

Set in 1950s Madras, “Kaantha” delves into the complex dynamic between a revered film director and a rising star all set against the backdrop of a mysterious murder on a movie set. The story pivots around T.K. Mahadevan (Dulquer Salmaan), who takes over a horror film previously led by his mentor, triggering betrayal, conflict, and a deep descent into corruption. A police investigation into the death reveals darker truths about ambition and fame.

Directed and written by Selvamani Selvaraj, the movie also marks the Tamil debut of actress Bhagyashree Borse and features performances from Rana Daggubati among others. Though its box office journey was modest, “Kaantha” now stands poised for a broader audience through streaming.
