The upcoming Xiaomi 18 series has once again surfaced in leaks, offering new insights into the standard model’s battery capacity and key specifications ahead of its expected launch later this year.
According to a tip shared by well-known tipster Digital Chat Station on Weibo, the Xiaomi 18 engineering prototype is currently being tested with a 7,200mAh battery. If accurate, this would mark a slight upgrade over the Xiaomi 17, which carries a 7,000mAh cell, indicating Xiaomi’s continued focus on extending battery life without significantly increasing device size.
The leak also suggests that Xiaomi is maintaining a compact flagship approach for the Xiaomi 18. The smartphone is expected to feature a 6.4-inch 2K display with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio, slim bezels, and rounded edges, aligning with the brand’s recent design direction.
On the imaging front, earlier reports from the same tipster indicate a major camera upgrade in testing. The Xiaomi 18 may sport a 200-megapixel primary rear sensor with a large 1/1.28-inch sensor size. There are also claims that select variants in the series could feature a dual 200-megapixel camera setup, signalling a significant leap over the Xiaomi 17 lineup, which includes a triple 50-megapixel rear camera system.
For context, the Xiaomi 17 Pro series currently offers a triple-camera arrangement comprising a 50-megapixel main sensor, a 50-megapixel telephoto lens, and a 50-megapixel additional sensor.
Separately, the Xiaomi 18 lineup is rumoured to debut in China around September, following Xiaomi’s usual annual refresh cycle. The Xiaomi 17 series, launched in September 2025, started at CNY 4,499 for the base model, while the Pro and Pro Max variants were priced higher depending on configurations.
