The shrine of Khwaja Moinuddin Hasan Chisti at Ajmer has a special visitor this week. Pandit Vidya Devi, a seer of the Kamakhya temple in Guwahati, Assam, which is one of the Sharda Peeths – the seat of divine femininity – offered prayers and a chadar at the mausoleum of the Sufi saint.
The Kamakhya Temple, one of the most important pilgrimage sites, is famous worldwide as one of the 51 sacred Shakti Peethas in the Hindu tradition.
She offered a chadar at the shrine and prayed for peace in the country.
The visit of a Sadhvi from the Kamakhya Peeth in Ajmer strengthens the unbroken tradition of inclusive heritage.
Inside the dargah complex, Pandit Vidya Devi was seen immersed in spirituality and enjoying Sufi Qawwali.
A delegation accompanied her. They all took a pledge at the shrine to work for eliminating religious hatred. They offered flowers at the shrine and wished India to become prosperous.
The shrine caretaker, Syed Ahmed Ali Niazi, conducted Pandit Vidya Devi in the premises. He shared information about the shrine's history and Sufi traditions.
As per tradition, he turbaned all the guests and presented them with the Darbar's tabarruk (consecrated food). This religious gathering captivated the hearts of the pilgrims present.
Pandit Vidya Devi also organised a langar (food distribution center) for the pilgrims and the needy. She distributed the food herself.
Syed Ahmed Ali Niazi said that Pandit Vidya Devi had a long-standing relationship with the Ajmer Dargah. She has been regularly visiting it for many years. He claimed she visits Ajmer Sharif before launching new initiatives to seek the blessings of the Sufi saint.
Pandit Vidya Devi presented a canopy and a large sheet for the shrine. According to the Khadims, Pandit Vidya Devi has expressed her desire to serve the people on a large scale during the upcoming 815th Urs.
She wants to contribute to the arrangements for food and medical treatment for the pilgrims coming from India and abroad on the occasion of the Urs.
She has thousands of followers across the country. She believes that the ultimate purpose of worshipping the Almighty is to serve humanity.
After the pilgrimage, Pandit Vidya Devi spoke to the media. She said that the spiritual peace she experiences at the Ajmer Dargah cannot be described in words.
She added that today society needs love and brotherhood, not hatred. Such efforts are greatly needed to address the growing religious bitterness in the country. She has come here with the wish for everyone's well-being and the nation's progress.
She also expressed her views on contemporary issues facing the country. Regarding the student protests at Jantar Mantar in Delhi, he said that the students' demands may be valid, and they have the right to protest.
However, the position of Prime Minister carries its own dignity. Students should maintain decorum in their language when registering their protest. Respecting the Prime Minister is the duty of every citizen. Students are the future of our country and should behave with dignity.
