Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Saturday said the state government is working towards making Hyderabad free from traffic congestion and eventually signal-free through an integrated urban mobility strategy.

Interacting with the parliamentary standing committee on urban affairs, Reddy said road widening alone would not solve the city’s traffic challenges and stressed the need for a comprehensive multi-modal transport network.

He said the government is also developing multi-level parking facilities across the city to address growing parking demand.

According to an official release, the Telangana government has adopted the CURE–PURE–RARE framework — Core Urban Region, Peri-Urban Region and Rural Agri Region — to ensure balanced and inclusive development across the state.

Reddy also highlighted the government’s long-term development blueprint, Telangana Rising Vision 2047, aimed at guiding comprehensive growth.

The chief minister said the government has undertaken the rejuvenation of the heavily polluted Musi River and is simultaneously developing the Musi River Front as part of urban renewal efforts.

To reduce pollution in the city, he said the government is introducing electric buses in the fleet of the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation.

Officials who presented details on drinking water supply, urban development and the Musi rejuvenation project also sought greater financial assistance from the Centre for Hyderabad’s infrastructure expansion.
