Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday led an anti-drug ‘padyatra’ in Anantnag district as part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt J-K Abhiyaan, urging all sections of society to unite against the drug menace in the Union Territory.

The foot march, attended by hundreds of people, began from Degree College Khanabal in the Khanabal area and concluded at Nai Basati.

Addressing a public gathering, Sinha appealed to people to “break the silence” and collectively fight drug abuse and trafficking.

He said the challenge of addiction can only be overcome through a “whole-of-society approach,” calling upon schools, colleges, families, sports institutions, villages and cultural platforms across Jammu and Kashmir to actively support the campaign.

The 100-day Nasha Mukt J-K Abhiyaan was launched last month to combat drug addiction and narcotics trafficking across the Union Territory.

The campaign began in Jammu on April 11 with a large padyatra led by Sinha from M A Stadium.
