Assam Chief Electoral Officer Anurag Goel on Wednesday formally submitted the results of the recently concluded Assembly elections to Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya.
Goel, accompanied by officials from the Chief Electoral Officer’s office, met the Governor at Lok Bhawan in Guwahati and presented the official list of newly elected members of the 126-member Assembly.
With the formal submission of election results completed, the constitutional process for government formation in the state is now set to begin.
The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance secured a decisive mandate, paving the way for a third consecutive term in office with a commanding two-thirds majority.
The BJP emerged with 82 seats, while its alliance partners—the Asom Gana Parishad and the Bodoland People’s Front—won 10 seats each.
In the opposition camp, Congress managed to win 19 constituencies, while its ally Raijor Dal secured two seats. Among other parties, the All India United Democratic Front won two constituencies and the Trinamool Congress captured one seat.

Polling for the Assam Assembly was conducted in a single phase on April 9, with counting of votes carried out on May 4.
