Following the defection of his father Pradyut Bordoloi to the BJP, Prateek Bordoloi has announced that he will not contest the upcoming Assam Assembly elections on a Congress ticket.

In a letter addressed to Mallikarjun Kharge, Prateek stated that it would be inappropriate for him to remain the Congress candidate from the Margherita constituency after his father’s political shift. The letter was shared with the media on Thursday.

He expressed his decision to withdraw his candidature with “utmost respect” for the party, while affirming that he would continue to be a member of the Congress and serve in any role assigned by the leadership.
