Calling upon party workers to intensify efforts for the forthcoming Assam Assembly polls, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said the greatest pride and honour of his life is being a karyakarta of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Addressing a public meeting here, the Prime Minister launched a sharp attack on the Indian National Congress, accusing it of indulging in “vote-bank and appeasement politics”.
PM Modi said whatever heights the BJP has achieved are due to the dedication and hard work of its workers. “I say with pride that the greatest qualification of my life, my biggest honour, is that Narendra Modi is a karyakarta of the BJP. As a BJP worker, I bow my head to the strength of our karyakartas and the organisation in Assam. I also offer my salutations to Maa Adi Shakti and Maa Kamakhya,” he said.
Describing party workers as the life force of the BJP, Modi said it is their commitment that takes the organisation forward. “Our faith lies in the organisation. We are united by one mantra — Bharat Mata Ki Jai,” he added.
The Prime Minister accused the Congress of neglecting the Northeast during its years in power, asserting that the BJP-led NDA government treats the region as “Ashtalakshmi”. “This is my first visit to the Northeast after the Union Budget. The Northeast, which was ignored earlier, is now our priority. We are devoted to its development and to making it economically self-reliant,” he said.
He further alleged that the Congress does not even acknowledge India as a nation. “Those who show no respect for Mother India can never work for the welfare of the country,” Modi said.
Recalling the region’s transformation, the Prime Minister said the Northeast was once associated with poor infrastructure. “Today, highways are being built where not only vehicles but even aircraft can land. This is the changing spirit of Assam,” he said.

PM Modi also paid tributes to security personnel who lost their lives in the Pulwama terror attack. “On this anniversary, I bow to the brave sons of Mother India who laid down their lives. After the attack, the way India punished the terrorists was seen by the entire world. Some are still trembling today after witnessing India’s strength during Operation Sindoor,” he said.
