National Conference patron Dr Farooq Abdullah also visited the family to offer condolences. Speaking to the media, Abdullah said Makhan Lal Bindroo was killed by Satan. He said Bindroo had served people of Kashmir in difficult times and his death was unfortunate.

Bindroo was one of the few prominent Kashmiri Pandit families who had not left Kashmir when his entire community left en mass in the wake of the rise in terrorism and religious extremism. He was known for his principles and ethical ways of doing business.

He had the reputation of never selling fake drugs though it’s a common phenomenon in Kashmir and hence his medicines were much sought after.

His son, Dr Siddharth Bindroo, an endocrinologist, told media persons that his father was so committed to serving the people that he had managed to persuade him to return home. He said, “My father was a nice man; he was very honest and likable; never sold fake drugs and helped everyone.”

He said Bindroo was a naturalist and lived a healthy lifestyle. “I expected him to pass way in the natural way and not such a brutal way.’

Bindroo’s daughter, Dr Sharaddha Bindroo, an Associate Professor in Medical College, challenged her father’s killers for a debate with her. “You can kill an honest man and yet his spirit will survive,” she told media persons who had gathered to speak to the family.

Dr Shraddha said her father was a self-made man as he started his business by selling drugs on his bicycle. “He was an honest man who worked hard and slept well. He educated his both children and even their mother was empowered as she worked in the family business."

Dr Shraddha's vido has gone viral and has been shared by many leaders on Twitter:
Addressing the person who killed her 70-year old father on Friday, Sharddha said, “ I have studied Quran and it says that body will perish but the human spirit of a man will not die.” He blamed politicians for giving stones and guns to the youth as against her parents imparting them education.’

“You are cowards and have no arguments; you can only kill people on their back and pelt stones; Come and discuss with me.”
